Hey there! I'm Hannah - a stay-at-home-mom and part time freelance writer and content strategist. It's a mouthful but I promise it's not as complex as it sounds.

I'm going on 11 years in the world of ag marketing and communications: five of those years have been in a freelance capacity. My focus has always been on ag, as I grew up on a dairy farm and have a degree in Dairy Science and Life Sciences Communication.

My latest project is the Get Freelancing Community, and it's a result of a need to collaborate and work together with other creative entrepreneurs as a freelancer. Apart from joining all of the industry organizations, there's not much out there for freelancers, specifically working in ag. So, I created this community to fill that gap! Here's what it's all about.

What is the Get Freelancing Community?

This is a stand-alone, off social media platform that functions similarly to a Facebook or LinkedIn feed. (Except that there are no algorithm games.) It's not part of a course, and the founder is not a business coach. In fact, the value in the community isn't even in the founder, it's in the shared experiences and collaboration of the members.

What's included in the community?

The community is built around three main benefits:

  • Peer support

  • Finding jobs/connecting freelancers with clients

  • Personal/professional development through industry-specific trainings and resources

We achieve these objectives through two separate, interactive feeds: one for jobs, and one for everything else. Personal/professional development is through bi-monthly Mastermind Zoom meetings, featuring ag industry speakers on topics ranging from client-serving skills to mindset and managing your business.

What does it cost?

There is a free version: the Welcome area of the community is a free-for-life space that includes replays of the masterminds, curated freelancing resources from our members, and an interactive feed that functions just like the paid membership area.

In the paid membership area, a freelancer can access the freelancer feed, live events and job board for $8.99/month or $99.99/year. Your plan starts with a two week free trial, during which you can access everything you'd see as a paid member. You do need to enter credit card information to start the trial, but if you cancel within your two weeks, you won't be charged.

With this membership, everything you're paying for is easily accessible, even if you have limited time to contribute and can't get any time away to attend in-person events.

Are there refunds if it doesn't work for me?

There are no refunds for annual subscriptions. Monthly memberships can be stopped at any time: you're not obligated to any number of months when you sign up for the monthly option.

What if I can't make the Zoom meetings?

The masterminds are all recorded and available to watch back, right inside the freelancer feed. Details are also emailed out after every event.

How does the job board work?

In the early stages, the job board is curated by members of the community. It is a newsfeed setup, in which you can choose what order you'd like to see the jobs, search for keywords, and connect directly with the person who has posted the job.

No fees are collected, nor are any payments for work facilitated through the community. For most jobs, this serves simply as a point of connection. If a job is a sub-contract role, it will be noted in the listing.

What kind of jobs are on the job board?

The job board currently features a variety of jobs, from website design to graphic design and videography. Job posts are welcome for any freelance capacity (related to ag), such as writing, photography, social media, email marketing, virtual assistant and more.

Are there any hirers in the community now?

Currently, the marketing efforts for the community are focused on freelancers - and it turns out there are several of us making use of the job board and looking for other members to hire. Members are asked to include the following information in their profiles, in order to streamline the hiring process: years of experience, areas of expertise, programs used, fee structure and availability timeline.

Is it only for ag?

While the masterminds and events are led by individuals within the ag industry, and the job board is primarily ag jobs, those creative entrepreneurs working outside of ag are welcome in our world!

What kind of freelancers is this for?

Sometimes "freelancer" feels like too narrow of a term, since many of us call ourselves the owner of our business, or a title specific to the type of work we do. This is open to anyone in a service-based, creative role who offers their services on a contract basis.

We are here for every level, whether you're just getting started, ready to scale up, or a seasoned expert. It doesn't matter if you charge by the hour, by the project, or by the package, or specialize only in one area. There is a place and a need for every level and every. skillset.
